Ai Weiwei’s exhibition Aftershock, running at MAXXI L’Aquila until September 6, could not have found a more symbolic setting. The dialogue between works created after the Sichuan earthquake and the still-physical memory of the L’Aquila earthquake generates an extraordinarily powerful emotional tension.
